Resumo
OBJETIVO: Conhecer a experiência de manejo familiar de uma criança submetida a transplante hepático quando os avós também são cuidadores, à luz do Family Management Style Framework. MÉTODO: Estudo de caso. Utilizou-se o referido modelo como arcabouço teórico e análise temática como método analítico. Os dados foram coletados a partir de entrevistas e análise de prontuário. RESULTADOS: A família define o transplante como ameaçador e aponta os conflitos existentes entre mãe e avós, sem saber como agir. As consequências refletem o medo e a incerteza que permeiam o cotidiano familiar. DISCUSSÃO: A avaliação permite discutir a influência e o papel dos avós quando um de seus netos é acometido por uma doença grave. CONCLUSÃO: A utilização de modelos teóricos pode ajudar no planejamento de intervenções específicas, e mais estudos são necessários para compreensão da experiência dos avós quando seus netos estão enfermos.
